Launched on January 6 on M6, the fifth season of This Is Us did not find its audience. So much so that the channel decided to deprogram it urgently.
This Is Us did not find its audience on M6. After months of waiting, the American series worn by Milo Ventimiglia, Mandy Moore, Chrissy Metz and Justin Hartley returned to the channel on Thursday January 6, with its fifth season. But the fans of this family fiction were not numerous in front of their screen. Broadcast at the end of the evening, with 4 episodes in a row, the launch of season 5 only attracted an average of 250,000 night owls between 11 p.m. and 2 a.m. for a 4.5% share of audience. And the second burst of episodes, scheduled yesterday, Thursday January 13, did little better, with an average of 283,000 people curious about the three plots broadcast until 1:15 a.m. for 3.9% of PDA. Scores that prompted M6 to react.
The series deprogrammed for lack of audience
In a statement, M6 announced the deprogramming of This Is Us, And this, from next January 20. January 27 and February 3, the series will also not air as scheduled starting at 10:55 p.m. Instead, viewers will be able to watch another American series: Why Women Kill. Season 2 of the series created by Marc Cherry (Desperate Housewives) is already airing in prime time since January 6. And from January 20, season 1 will be rebroadcast in the second part of the evening. The next Thursday evenings of M6 will therefore be entirely devoted to Why Women Kill. Do not panic however for the fans of This Is Us : they will be able to finish watching season 5 on the 6Play platform, where the unscheduled episodes will be put online.
What an end to This Is Us?
Something to reassure those who are waiting to finish the fifth season before moving on to season 6, which is also the last of the series. Indeed, 2022 marks the end for this creation by Dan Fogelman, launched in 2016. Fans are waiting for answers to the many questions they have. Milo Ventimiglia, who embodies Jack Pearson, this ideal father, confided a little in this long-awaited end, ensuring that he had “a pretty good idea of what’s going to happen”in the latest episodes.
