The Taiwanese brand Tromox arrives on the French market with its Ukko S, a small 125 cc electric motorcycle with a range of 180 kilometers. It is already available, from 6,490 euros.
Never heard of Tromox? Rest assured, this is completely normal. But there is no doubt that the Taiwanese brand should be talked about a lot over the next few years. Indeed, it specializes in the design of electric two-wheelers, a segment increasingly popular with manufacturers. Even the most traditional are getting into it, like Kawazaki, Honda or Harley-Davidson. Not to mention young brands, like Super73 or Zero Motorcycles.
A very contained weight
Arriving on the market in 2020, Tromox now offers several models, including the small Mino, with a reduced size and designed for mainly urban use. Last October, the Asian firm also lifted the veil on a new creation, on the occasion of the CIMA Motor Show, the Chinese Motorcycle World.
Baptized Ukko S, it displays a completely different positioning, approaching the category of the Honda MSX125 Grom with its length of 1.80 meters and its 13-inch rims. Available in several shades and displaying a rather attractive look, this newcomer won the iF Design Award last Mayone of the most prestigious design awards in the world as explained in the brand’s press release.
Rival of the Dayi E-Odin 2.0, unveiled recently, this new creation displays a contained weight of only 110 kilos. A small performance, which we owe in particular to the use of steel and carbon for the realization of the chassis. The motorcycle is also equipped with a swing arman inverted front fork and a central rear suspension.
A design that saves quite a bit of weight on the scale. Note that the electric motor is not installed in the rear wheel but in a central position, while the transmission is ensured by a belt.
Already available in France
The small electric motorcycle then displays a nominal power of 4 kW (5.4 hp) and a maximum of 7 kW (9.5 hp) and it can then reach a maximum speed of 100 km/h according to the brand’s website. So this Ukko S is presented as a 125 cc equivalent, so equipped with a 72V 55Ah battery which allows it to travel approximately 180 kilometers in eco-mode.
On the other hand, Tromox does not specify the power of the recharge, as well as the time necessary to fill the battery. For comparison, the Dayi E-Odin 2.0 is equipped with a 7.2 kWh battery, rechargeable in 10 hours, with a range of 210 km.
This new Tromox Ukko S is already available in France, through the Volt retailer, for a price displayed from 6,490 euros. It is eligible for the ecological bonus, of a maximum amount of 900 euros or 27% of the purchase price of the vehicle as explained on the Public Service website. The list of distributors can be found on the brand’s website. The latter are present in Île-de-France but also in Marseille, Mulhouse, Toulon or Nantes and La Rochelle.
