This map of Caldera shows the extent of empty areas

Warzone players recently compared the plans of Verdansk and Caldera to each other and discovered that the Pacific map has a lot more “empty spaces” than the original map.

Since the launch of Warzone Pacific, the Warzone community has made no secret of their dissatisfaction with the new Caldera map which they consider “boring”.

Players even think that Caldera needs a major overhaul, including moving some locations (POIs) to other places. One suggestion is to place a large area like Capital in the center, like TV Station in the days of Verdansk.

And recently, in order to demonstrate just how slow and boring Caldera can be, Warzone players compared the two Battle Royale maps.

Warzone players think Caldera needs a lot of changes to finally become an entertaining map.

Comparison between Verdansk and Caldera shows gaps in new map

In a Reddit post by juwong_, which we’ve embedded above, you can see the two Warzone maps with all the empty spaces highlighted in red.

Looking at Caldera (on the left), we can see that the majority of wasted spaces cover a huge part of the map and especially in the center of it while on Verdansk, these spaces are only on the periphery of the map.

This could therefore explain why players feel that games are slower on Caldera than on Verdansk.

One player notably said in the comments: “Rotations on Caldera are zero. There’s too much empty space with almost no cover… The pacing is incredibly slow after the first few minutes.

This has a big impact on the endgame in Caldera. This results in a slower pace and there always seems to be five times as many teams alive as on Verdansk.” said another player.

And it is for all these reasons that the community believes that moving some locations or creating new ones in the future could greatly improve the pace of play on Caldera.

As we approach Season 2 of the Battle Royale, the developers have recently confirmed that changes are coming to the map.
