This mythical saga is 60 years old and has a sequel with an unexpected comic star and the director of Sonic!

The director of “Sonic” will direct a new feature film centered on The Pink Panther. Eddie Murphy should play Inspector Clouseau there.

60 years after Blake Edwards’ film, The Pink Panther is about to return to the cinema! The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Eddie Murphy would be in negotiations to play Inspector Clouseau in this new version.

The American actor would thus succeed Steve Martin, the last actor to have interpreted the French inspector in The Pink Panther by Shawn Levy (2006) and its sequel, released in 2009.

The Pink Panther saga began in 1963 with the comedy by Blake Edwards in which Peter Sellers lent his features to Jacques Clouseau. A role that the British actor then reprized in When the Inspector Gets Tangled Up (1964), The Return of the Pink Panther (1975), When the Pink Panther Gets Tangled Up (1976) and The Curse of the Pink Panther ( 1978). This was followed by The Heir to the Pink Panther (1983) with Roger Moore then The Son of the Pink Panther (1993) with Roberto Benigni.

The Pink Panther (1963)

It will be the tenth film in The Pink Panther franchise centering on the bumbling French detective and the titular character who was initially just an animated character in an opening sequence. The name “The Pink Panther” indeed refers to the name given to a highly valuable pink diamond that is at the center of a heist in the original film.

A live action and CGI movie

Directed by Jeff Fowler, to whom we already owe the Sonic films, this reboot is written by Chris Bremner (Bad Boys for Life, The Man From Toronto).

Just like Sonic, it will be a film mixing live action and CGI. In this opus the Inspector should team up with the Pink Panther.

Famous for having played in the comedies The Cop of Beverly Hills, A prince in New York, The Nutty Professor and Dr Dolittle, Eddie Murphy recently appeared in the Netflix series You People.
