The new spin-off of one of the most popular horror series has just been released. Surprisingly, the director was largely inspired by The Bridgerton Chronicles on Netflix.
Since its release in 2020 on Netflix, The Bridgerton Chronicles gets viewers talking a lot. Indeed, fans are impatiently awaiting season 3 which is scheduled for May 16, 2024. If the series had worked so well it is for several reasons. First of all, it’s because period films and series have been popular in recent years. In the series, we are in fact immersed in the 19th century within London’s high society. We follow the adventures of two main families: the Bridgertons and the Featheringtons who receive every day the chronicles of a famous Lady Whistledow whose identity they do not know.

Another point which appealed to viewers: the lovely casting and more particularly the presence of Regé-Jean Page in the role of the Duke of Hastings. In 2023, the actor was named “the most handsome man in the world” according to science. Finally, what appeals most to the public is also and above all love stories. In fact, each season we follow the more or less complicated and torrid romance of two of the protagonists. In season 1 it was the one between Simon Bassett and Daphne Bridgerton and in season 2 we were plunged into the heart of the love triangle made up of Anthony Bridgerton and the two sisters Edwina and Kate Sharma… This is also what romantic side which largely inspired the new spin-off of a successful horror series.

Surprising but true: The Bridgerton Chronicles inspired a horror series! And, it’s about… The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, the spin-off dedicated to the two heroes of the original series: Rick and Michonne. The first episode has been available since March 29 on the Paramount+ platform and the following ones will be broadcast every Friday. We will find Michonne played by Danai Gurira who will reunite with her companion Rick Grimes played by Andrew Lincoln. The two actors whose characters form the flagship couple of the program also co-created the series.

As the main actor clarified during an interview with People magazine, it will be “the spin-off of the Walking Dead series the most romantic ever produced”. He also revealed the source of inspiration: “We watched a lot of Bridgerton”before adding: “It’s a long-awaited story, I love this character and in my opinion it’s a true love story. The very first episode of the series followed the story of a man who sets out in search of his family.
The romantic plot of The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live
In this spin-off of The Walking Dead, we will therefore witness the reunion between Rick and Michonne who have been separated for a very long time. “They lived completely different lives and they must find each other. I think it will be breathtaking”, revealed Scott Gimple, the showrunner. But how will this reunion go? Will love be stronger than everything or will external events get the better of them?
