This new ultra-affordable Decathlon bike basket is perfectly designed for city dwellers

The Btwin brand from Decathlon is launching a new, very practical bicycle basket designed only for folding models. A strap also allows you to carry it on your shoulder.

Electric or muscle folding bikes have the ability to fit into small spaces when folded, whether in transport, at work or at home. On the other hand, they may lack practicality due to their compact format, being without any front or rear loading support: understand, a luggage rack or a basket.

To fill this gap, Decathlon and its Btwin brand have designed a basket specifically designed for folding bikes. It is placed at the front, thanks to a steel arch system to fit on the handlebars. On top, a protection protects the contents of the basket thanks to a drawstring.

A modest capacity

Furthermore, and in order to prevent the basket from swinging too much, a strap has been installed to consolidate the attachment of the accessory from the stem. Here too, it’s a well-thought-out idea. As for the overall volume of the basket, it reaches 10 liters. Enough to hold a few personal belongings, but not your entire wardrobe either.

With a height of 25 cm and a diameter of 24 cm, this bicycle basket can also be carried by hand. Or rather on the shoulder, thanks to a strap adjustable in length. This same strap should be stored in the basket when you are riding, at the risk of seeing it dangle and come dangerously close to your front wheel.

Not necessarily compatible with all folding bikes

If the basket obstructs your headlight, a lighting clip has been installed on the basket in order to mount a light there and remain visible to other users at night. On the other hand, only one downside remains: the compatibility of the equipment. Decathlon ensures that it is compatible with all folding bikes in the catalog, except the E FOLD 500.

Also, the French firm specifies that it is necessary to check compatibility for any other bike. We are thinking in particular of the Brompton, Xiaomi Folding Bike and other Eovolts.

Available in a mix of dark blue/carbon gray/black colors, this bike basket costs the modest sum of 16 euros, with a 2-year warranty.
