A young nurse helped a homeless woman give birth on the street. Yes, nurses and doctors take an oath to protect and save lives no matter when and where.

Despite arriving late for work on Tuesday, August 18, Lorraine Pingol, a Filipino nurse, rescued a homeless woman ready to give birth on the street in Makati City, Philippines.

A heroic act

Without the precious help of the young nurse, Jeca Mae Rausa, 31, and her baby daughter would have been in grave danger. Lorraine Pingol did not hesitate for a second to come to the aid of the young mother in distress and offered her services to help her give birth peacefully.

Christian Jacinto, advisor to the rescue team, told ABS-CBS news that the team received a call around 8 a.m. regarding a young mother about to give birth on the street. Unfortunately, not all nurses and midwives were on duty and the staff were trained only for first aid and not emergency care. Nurse Pingol's arrival was therefore timely!

The pregnant mother gave birth lying on a wooden box in an empty street near a parking lot. Using tools from the Bankal FERDS Makati Rescue Team, Pingol cleaned up the baby and cut the umbilical cord. Soon after, the young woman was rushed to hospital with her newborn baby.

Rescue Team Director Christian Jacinto told ABS- au that Pingo was impressively calm and it took just a few minutes to help the distressed mother deliver her baby.

" When I saw the mother's physical condition, she really needed help, her condition could have gotten worse if no one had intervened »She explains to the English newspaper The Inquierer.
" If you have the ability to help another person who is in need, especially if it is a matter of life and death, do so. "Said Pingol, before adding" but make sure you really know what you are doing. Otherwise find someone else who can help you ".

Pingol is a company nurse and does not work in hospitals. Indeed, the latter is currently in remission from leukemia, a disease that affects the blood and bone marrow. After her courageous act, the latter received a wave of support from her colleagues but also from internet users.
