The French company TOMAA has just unveiled its e-cargo, an electrically assisted bicycle (VAE) that is as practical as it is comfortable. Designed for doing your shopping, dropping your children off at school or even going to work, the e-cargo adapts to all needs.
Between the skyrocketing price of gasoline and parking spaces becoming scarce in large cities, city dwellers are turning more and more towards soft mobility. Much less restrictive than the scooter, the VAE has been on the rise for several years now. But when it’s time to take the plunge, it’s difficult to find your way around as the choice is so vast.
What if you relied on TOMAA and its very first longtail model, the e-cargo? Comfort, autonomy, robustness, or even high-end finishes, the French brand has left nothing to chance. TOMAA has also provided a whole series of accessories to enhance its e-cargo, such as storage baskets and child seats to be placed at the front and/or at the rear. Bags can also be added to the sides, to store your shopping for example, while having your child behind you.
Comfort and ease even when the bike is loaded
Contrary to popular belief, you don’t need to be a great sportsman to bring home a week’s worth of groceries by bike. TOMAA has equipped its e-cargo with a good 250 W Bafang engine, efficient electric assistance and starting assistance.
As soon as you start pedaling, the assistance and the motor take over. This is without counting its “walk” mode, very useful for never feeling its weight. Whatever the distance traveled and the loading level, driving remains comfortable and accessible to all.
And it’s not in terms of autonomy that the problem lies, the e-cargo can travel up to 160 km with a full charge. In addition, its LCD screen, located next to the left handlebar grip, allows you to monitor the battery level, your speed and the kilometers traveled in real time.
Finally, TOMAA has also thought about rainy days and has fitted the wheels of its e-cargo with plexiglass windows, to protect you from traces of mud on your clothes. Bad weather will therefore be no match for traffic jams and parking difficulties.
French quality and know-how

The e-cargo is priced from 3,490 euros on the TOMAA website and can be delivered free of charge in mainland France within 3 to 5 days.
Several possible financing methods
The French company also offers payment facilities and allows you to pay for the e-cargo in 3 installments free of charge thanks to its partner Klarna. Which amounts to 3 monthly payments of 1163.33 euros for the standard model without additional options.
In addition, in order to lower the bill somewhat, you can apply for public subsidies. Local authorities (municipalities, departments, regions) indeed offer aid to new owners of VAEs. Île-de-France, for example, promises up to 600 euros to its residents purchasing a VAE for the first time.
And if you decide before December 31, 2023, you may also be able to obtain the conversion bonus. Unlike aid granted by communities, this is however subject to income or disability conditions and can reach 400 euros for a cargo VAE. If you are eligible, you must send your invoice to the State, via the dedicated site, within 6 months following your purchase.
