this reason which pushed her to “murder in silence” for several weeks

While the actress Leïla Bekhti did not comment on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict by moving away from the networks, she finally spoke this Tuesday, November 21, 2023 in a long post on Instagram. The actress speaks with an open heart…

Many media personalities have already spoken out for several weeks following the Israeli-Palestinian conflict raging in the Gaza Strip. It was on October 7 that it all began, a disastrous date which marked the start of a conflict which has already caused thousands of deaths, more than 13,000 people to date according to the latest official figures, including 5500 children. If until now Leïla Bekhti had chosen not to speak on the subject, the actress finally broke her omerta this Tuesday, November 21, 2023. The 39-year-old actress spoke through her Instagram account on in which she published a long, very poignant message in which she explains why she had chosen not to speak out: “For weeks, I have been gripped by horror. The unbearable images of innocent people left to their own devices haunt me. The images of children under the rubble that reach us every day paralyze me. My words abandoned me and I walled myself in silence“.

Calling for peace and humanity, she asks “how many more lives have been sacrificed, how many child victims, without all the leaders demanding a ceasefire (…) I pray that all the hostages return home unharmed and can be reunited with their families. I pray for the Palestinians, who have suffered occupation, colonization and apartheid for years. Their human rights and dignity should not be up for debate. Because this is where our humanity lies“.

Grieving, the actress concludes her message on which she has deactivated the comments in order to leave no room for hatred: “That our hearts calm down, that they find empathy and humanity, that is what we have most precious“.
