In Zagreb, a restaurant called Bots&Pots benefits from a mode of operation that is unique in the world.

Artificial intelligence makes many people fear losing their jobs. A fear that unfortunately seems to be justified, especially in view of the developed and already exploitable capacities of robotics in fields such as journalism, and even law. AI could thus quickly become a real (unfair) competitor on the job market.

A unique restaurant in the world

Croatia, its magnificent beaches, its Adriatic coast, its unforgettable summers… and its cooks made of metal? It is perhaps, in fact, a new trend that will develop with this very particular restaurant called Robots&Pots.

Developed by restaurateur Hrvoje Bujas, along with several partners, the concept incorporates a robotic chef capable of producing 70 different dishes, which are then served by a human staff of waiters. The machine, called “GammaChef”, is totally autonomous, the only human contribution being the loading of fresh food.

Seven years and more than 1 million euros were needed to open this new type of establishment last year. Because as Hrvoje Bujas reminds us, if there are already machines capable of preparing pizzas or frying fries, ” there is no robot that prepares a complete meal from fresh food “.

A risk for traditional restaurants?

According to customers who may have been interviewed by Reuters, the end result is more than satisfying, gourmets having it for their taste buds. And the robots available to the restaurant impress with their productivity, since the 5 automatons are capable of producing a hundred plates per hour.

Suffice to say that the model could well attract capital, especially since the investment would not be so high. Hrvoje Bujas thus estimates the price of a robot at 10,000 euros in the event of marketing. Moreover, the businessman does not want to stop there, and now wants to develop in franchise.

Our end goal is to create a “no waiter, no chef, no money” space where you order, get and pay for your food without human contact. “. Could this be the solution for the future to the recurring shortage of labor in the restaurant sector?
