This series was canceled because of its toxic environment

Most of the time, series are canceled by channels or platforms because of their performances, but this is not the case for the Max comedy “The Other Two”.

It’s a bit of a berezina within the production of the comedy The Other Two. The series, whose first season aired on Comedy Central in France, is coming to an end after three seasons due to a report of a toxic workplace.

We learn through The Hollywood Reporter that the comedy ends with its season 3, the last episode of which airs today on Max.

The Other Two was created by Saturday Night Live alumni Chris Kelly and Sarah Schneider. They issued a statement to the press to clarify that the decision to end season 3 was not due to the show’s cancellation.

However The Hollywood Reporter credits several sources according to which there would have been “many staff complaintsregarding Chris Kelly and Sarah Schneider during production.

According to the American magazine’s report, the staff’s complaints stemmed from the screenwriters’ behavior on set and in the writing room. Also included are allegations that Chris Kelly “verbally abused the writers and the overworked crew“, And “Sarah Schneider let it be“.

After a formal investigation, Chris Kelly and Sarah Schneider were cleared. Yet the atmosphere behind the scenes of production seems to have quite a reputation. Former Saturday Night Live screenwriter Tina Fey dropped a bombshell last March during her acceptance speech at the PEN America Literary Awards.

She said Lorne Michaels, the creator of Saturday Night Live, “dropped an army of monsters in the wild” by encouraging authors. A spade that apparently referred to Chris Kelly and Sarah Schneider:

You know it, I know it, and the crew of ‘The Other Two’ know it“, taunted Tina Fey. “Oh, I was supposed to change that. I was supposed to change that. It’s inappropriate. But hey, it’s not livestreaming“.

End clap

Kelly and Schneider released a joint statement announcing the end of The Other Two after three seasons:

It’s bittersweet to say goodbye to the Dubek family after three seasons, but we always knew, both creatively and personally, that this was where we wanted to end their stories.“, said the duo. “And because we’ve literally run out of ways to humiliate Drew Tarver, so what’s the point?

We are deeply grateful to everyone (gay people) who watched the show, to Max who gave us a second home and a second life, and to our writers, producers and crew, who gave so much of their time, of their talent and passion to this series over the past 45-plus years.

And finally, a huge thank you to Helene, Drew, Molly, Case, Wanda, Josh, Brandon, and all the other members of our brilliant team (except Ken) who made this series better than it was. could have been, and who we will miss terribly (especially Ken). Long live ChaseDreams. #chasedreams #globsaregay #feet“.

In The Other Two, Helene Yorke and Drew Tarver play the “other” siblings Brooke and Cary, whose dreams of stardom fade after their younger brother ChaseDreams (Case Walker) becomes a Justin Bieber-esque pop star.

Molly Shannon stars as Pat Dubek, their mother-turned-Oprah Winfrey equivalent, while Ken Marino and Wanda Sykes form the family’s media team. As for Josh Segarra (Arrow, She-Hulk), he plays Lance, Brooke’s boyfriend, throughout the series, and Brandon Scott Jones is Curtis, Drew’s enemy.
