Part of his bones were discovered, in the hamlet, this Saturday, March 30, 2024, eight months after having was last seen alive. It was a hiker who made the find before returning the child’s skull to the Seyne-les-Alpes gendarmerie. Although we now know that the little boy is dead, the case is far from being resolved.

According to BFMTV, the case of young Émile effectively echoes that of Lucas Tronche, a 16-year-old teenager whose bones were found not far from his home in 2021, six years after his disappearance. On March 18, 2015, the young man mysteriously disappeared while he had to take the bus to go to his swimming lesson, in Bagnols-sur-Cèze in the Gard. Like Émile, he no longer gave any sign of life.
A major search system and numerous experts were then deployed on site to try to find clues. Just as was the case for the investigation into the disappearance of the 2-year-old child, large searches had been organized, helicopters, thermal cameras and drones had been deployed by the police, brigades canines had been dispatched to the scene and numerous calls for witnesses had been made, according to The Parisian.

Just like Émile, Lucas’ bones were finally found not far from his home, in Bagnols-sur-Cèze, in 2021. On the peak of ‘Mas jaune’, an area which belongs to the commune, the firefighters went down in rappel along a cliff. Another curious resemblance: in both cases, the excavated area is “particularly steep” and difficult to access. Finally, one last similarity is added to the list: the place where the bones of Émile and Lucas were found in a place that had already been excavated several times. For both cases, a question therefore arises: have they passed under the noses of investigators all this time or have they been moved? Even today, the circumstances of Lucas’ death have not been identified, although the possibility of an accidental fall would be favored.
