That is to say a trip to the place where little Émile was last seen alive, in order to put all the witnesses into perspective, confront them with the statements they were able to make to investigators and how everyone experienced that day”, explains Vincent Bantighem, senior police-justice reporter BFMTV.

But then, who will be present during this recovery? “Obviously the investigators from the Marseille research section will be on site, the investigating judges, all the civil parties, therefore the family of little Émile, his parents, his grandparents. And also all the witnesses who saw him and we make statements to investigators after his disappearance in order to try to determine what really happened on July 8, 2023.” answers Vincent Bantighem.

What is the difference with a reconstruction?

“It’s not at all the same thing since quite simply a reconstitution would mean that we already have a crime scene. Now, as we know, in the affair of little Émile, we completely don’t know what happened. The investigators are simply at the hypothesis stage”, explains the reporter. Before specifying that it is therefore simply not possible to reconstruct the facts since we ignore them.

“So we are not on a criminal scene, we are just at a place of disappearance and the goal is to determine how all the protagonists in the case experienced this day. What they saw, were there any contradictions or inconsistencies? Will this allow bring out certain inconsistencies in everyone’s statements, always with the same goal of trying to determine what happened to this little boy last summer”, concludes the journalist.
