To anticipate spring and why not ride a bike with the family, the electric cargo bike is an ideal solution. However, the price can put off more than one parent, an observation which two players in the field have remedied. The Yuba brand and the reconditioned bicycle specialist Rutile have joined forces around a unique offer, a longtail with reconditioned parts: the Yuba Mundo Circular.

Following the discontinuation of the marketing of a model, we had new high quality motors, but of a previous generation, from the Japanese Shimano which we no longer used. explains Thibaut Bonder-Devaux, marketing manager at Yuba. “We decided to combine them with affordable and high-performance components around the Mundo frame which is recognized for its comfort and loading capacity.”

New with old

So the Yuba Mundo Circular is a new bike with old parts. It is based on the same Yuba Mundo EP8 model available in the catalog of the Franco-American firm, with a few differences. The main one is the motor, going from the recent Shimano EP8 (85 Nm) to the previous Steps E8000 developing 70 Nm of torque.

It benefits from a battery that is still removable and attached to the same frame, however falling to 418 Wh of capacity (vs 500 Wh). Other modifications, the tires are WTB Cruz Flat Guard, still in 26 inches, and which replace the classic offer between the Schwalbe Big Ben or Maxxis Metroloads Pro. The Shimano transmission here is 9 speeds, compared to 10 or 11 speeds on the base bike, and the Tektro brand hydraulic brakes (vs Magura).

However, the strength of the Mundo Circular offer is the integration of accessories such as seats, grab bars and footrests. A front wheel lock could also have completed the range, too bad. The Yuba Mundo retains its 32 kg on paper, but should weigh a few more kg given the equipment. In any case, it promises the same maximum weight to be supported of 250 kg, bike and cyclist included.

A new electric cargo bike at an unbeatable price?

The price of the electric cargo bike is therefore lower than an equivalent model and“20% cheaper than other options on the market”, specifies the Yuba manager. At 3,899 euros (delivery 49 euros), it’s a very interesting longtail, fully equipped and with a fairly generous engine. This is much less than the Mundo EP8 starting at 4,499 euros without accessories.

The Yuba Mundo Circular is available on the Rutile website. It is also exhibited and available for testing in the brand’s showroom in Villeurbanne (Rhône). The warranty is that of a new electric bike, 2 years excluding wearing parts, the frame, fork, handlebars and stem being guaranteed for 5 years.
