This video shows the Google Pixel 8 before its time, but we didn’t recognize it right away

A Pixel 8 was unboxed before its official presentation by Google. The opportunity to confirm certain design points, but also its great resemblance with the previous model.

A Pixel 8 box, almost identical in every way to that of the Pixel 7. Two hands appear, grab it and open it. Out comes the smartphone, its small USB-A adapter, its cable and its paperwork. A unboxing like the internet has thousands of them. Really ? Except that the Pixel 8 has not yet been unveiled by Google.

The YouTube channel PBKreviews published these shorts on October 1, 2023. We therefore discover the new Google smartphone in its non-pro version, which will be officially unveiled on October 4, 2023 during the giant’s conference in Mountain View.

We can thus confirm that its design really seems very close to the Pixel 7, its predecessor. Comparing with a model in our possession, we notice that the bubble which houses the two photo modules is slightly wider. The aluminum strip above and below the bubble looks thinner.

Glossy coating

Other information that we can glean from this video: the sage green color of the Pixel 7 Pro seems to be available on the Pixel 8. We note in passing that the non-Pro model appears to retain a glossy coating and not a matte one, as expected on the Pro versions.

On the back, on the box, we also see that the screen will measure 6.2 inches diagonally and that the basic configuration is 128 GB of storage. The smartphone is not a priori compatible with 5G mmWave, which is not a tragedy since the latter is not yet deployed in France.
