Following an operational accident, the inhabitants no longer have access to ADSL, in an area where 4G does not pass. Orange, for its part, continues to postpone the date of intervention of a technician, without giving a reason.
It happens that some unscrupulous users are at the origin of an Internet cut in a home. But the thing is all the more infuriating for the inhabitants of Gorge, a small hamlet located in the Channel, in Normandy, that it is probably no one’s fault. On December 27, the connection poles and cables supplying the village were severed. The population suspects an incident of exploitation, caused by an agricultural machine.
Unfortunately, the connection has still not been restored. While everyone expected Orange, which manages the network in the region, to intervene quickly to solve the problem, they are still patiently waiting for a technician to show up. Worse still, despite the incessant reminders from the inhabitants, the operator keeps postponing the date of the intervention, without giving a precise reason.
An entire village has been without internet for two months
“Services have deteriorated a lot in the countryside and we are already very isolated, but then it’s the worst: I no longer have the Internet or a telephone and no one can reach me at home, because 4G is also too weak», Complains Jean-Claude Legouix, one of the inhabitants of Gorges. A situation that prevents some from working properly, including Richard, a cow breeder.

“All the administration is now done via the Internet and we no longer have access to anything. But, worse, our machines are often connected, starting with the DACs, the power distribution machines. You have to wait to get 4G to activate them », explains the latter. However, as often in rural areas, 4G is not powerful enough to rely on.
Worse still, some are risking their lives. Thérèse, 94, has a connected system that allows her to call for help if needed. Without the Internet, she is on her own if an emergency arises. For now, residents continue to pay their bills. There is no sign of Orange to determine when an intervention will take place.
