This watch and this bracelet are the two most credible alternatives to cheap Xiaomi products


Honor recently unveiled its new connected watch and connected bracelet: the Watch GS 4 and the Honor Band 9. For the moment made official in China, these are two very simple wearables, but also relatively accessible.

The Chinese manufacturer Honor recently organized an event in China to present its new range of products. On the menu: the Honor Magic 6 RSR Porsche Design and Magic 6 Ultimate, the Honor Band 9, and the Watch GS 4. Here, we will focus on wearables.

Watch GS 4: two weeks of battery life

The Watch GS 4 is a circular watch equipped with a 1.43-inch AMOLED screen with a definition of 466 x 466 pixels. Although it does not allow you to install applications, it includes many features dedicated to health and sport. It is equipped with an in-house OS.

The Watch GS 4 allows you to monitor health indicators such as heart rate, SpO2, sleep quality and stress levels. It is also equipped with an integrated GNSS system to navigate and track your outdoor activities with the laptop. You can record your exercise with over 100 sports to choose from.

The Watch GS 4’s 451 mAh battery allows the watch to run for up to 14 days on a single charge, with a full recharge in less than an hour. The watch has a water resistance rating of 5 ATM and is available in three colors: Starry Sky Exploration (black), Galaxy Shuttle (black/silver) and Jasper Astrolabe (green/gold).

Honor’s Watch GS 4 is positioned as a serious competitor for the Xiaomi Watch S3.

From Band 7 to Band 9, but where is 8?

The Honor Band 9 is the latest connected bracelet from the Chinese brand. A direct competitor to the Xiaomi Smart Band 8 Pro, it aims to offer the maximum number of features at an affordable price. Obviously, there is no possibility of installing third-party apps, it tracks certain health indicators and it allows you to have notifications on the handles.

With its 1.57-inch AMOLED screen, larger than that of its predecessor the Honor Band 7, the Honor Band 9 offers user comfort which should be much better. The screen definition has also been improved, going from 194 x 368 pixels to 256 x 402 pixels.

Design-wise, the Honor Band 9 retains the same look as its predecessor, while being lighter. It features 5ATM water resistance and upgrades to Bluetooth 5.3 LE for supposedly improved connectivity.

The Honor Band 9 is equipped with many features dedicated to health and sports. It can take continuous heart rate and SpO2 measurements, monitor sleep, menstrual periods and other health parameters. It also has 96 sports modes.

Offered in China from 249 CNY (around 35 euros), the Honor Band 9 is an affordable and efficient connected bracelet. We still have to wait for its release in Europe to be able to test it and compare it to its competitors.
