MrL314 describes his project as a “troll”, which was developed while looking into how the camera works in Super Mario Kart. “ This is a very fun and very complex hack that gives you a new way to play Super Mario Kart “, he explains. He gave a name to his challenge: Resident Evil Kart, in reference to the still shots of Capcom’s first horror games, which have greatly gained in dynamism over time.
Used as elements to instill fear (since we cannot see everything), these fixed shots were therefore applied to Super Mario Kart by MrL314. “ Instead of having the camera follow you normally, the camera shows predetermined points around the track and provides different still shots as you move along the track.
