The separation of Thomas, 72, and Thea Gottschalk, 76, made numerous headlines in the media in 2019. The “Wetten dass…?” moderator and Thea Hauer met in 1972 at the Munich Medicine Ball, and the wedding followed in 1976. The ex-couple lived in Malibu, California with their two sons, Tristan, 33, and Roman, 39.

The end of love was a shock for Roman Gottschalk

The Gottschalks have always protected their sons’ privacy. Now Roman dares to go public himself. Together with his father, he gave his first TV interview on RTL and also accompanied the 72-year-old on the red carpet. When asked about the end of his parents’ relationship, the 39-year-old revealed on “Exclusive Weekend” in an interview with Frauke Ludowig:

It was a shock at first.

However, Roman has made himself aware that everyone has to find out for themselves how to deal with it. In no case did he want to stand in his father’s way. Finally, he also sees that “my father is happy”.

Thomas Gottschalk emphasized: “I informed the two of them first. I took them into my confidence. I saw that as my duty.” He also asked his boys for something: “You have to stay with mom. You both have to close the gap I left. That’s your job.”
