Surprising snapshot with tennis star Boris Becker

“Gangsters among themselves”: Thomas Gottschalk surprises Instagram with a selfie in which he can be seen with Boris Becker.
Since the end of March, Thomas Gottschalk (72) has been busy posting on Instagram. His latest post is now a real rarity: He surprised fans and followers with a shared selfie with Boris Becker (55), on which the two laugh at the camera dressed in dark suits.
What exactly the photo is about is not clear from the post. Gottschalk only writes “gangsters among themselves” and adds a winking emoji to his comment. Becker also did not comment on the contribution.
Gottschalk and Becker have been friends for years
It is well known that the two have been friends for years. In addition, Becker has appeared several times on Gottschalk’s popular ZDF show “Wetten, dass..?” guest, the first time in 2000.
Shortly after Becker’s prison sentence in spring 2022 and the headlines that came with it, Gottschalk publicly protected the tennis star. Among other things, he told the “Bild” newspaper: “Boris didn’t rip off impoverished grandmothers. In the worst case, a few rich financiers became a little poorer.” For him, Becker is “an athlete who has achieved top sporting achievements and paid a high price for it in his life”. He added: “The audience first applauded his successes and is now intoxicated by his decline.”
After seven months in prison, Becker was released early from a prison in England in December 2022. Since then he has been seen regularly on television again. His documentary “Boom! Boom! The World vs. Boris Becker” was also released on AppleTV+ on April 7th.
