Thomas Métivier, current general manager of CDiscount, a subsidiary of Casino, was appointed president and CEO by the board of directors on Friday, effective April 1, the e-retailer told AFP, confirming information from the specialized LSA site.
Marie Even, deputy general manager since August 2020, becomes deputy general manager, the online commerce site also announced in a press release to AFP.
These appointments “are a continuation of the announcements published (Thursday) by the Casino group now managed by Philippe Palazzi” and “mark the launch of a new stage in the development of Cdiscount, engaged for two years in a transformation of its model and an improvement in its operational performance,” commented the group.
The distributor Casino, which passed into the hands of Czech billionaire Daniel Kretinsky on Wednesday, announced on Thursday the “effective completion” of its financial restructuring and a renewed management team.
Thomas Métivier, aged 36, “who held the position of general manager of Cnova (parent company of Cdiscount, Editor’s note) and of Cdiscount since January 16, 2023, now becomes president and CEO of Cdiscount SA”, detailed the distributor in line.
A graduate of the Ecole Polytechnique and engineer with the Corps des Mines, he held various positions in the administration before joining Cdiscount in 2016 “within the strategy department of which he was appointed director a year later”.
In 2018, he was named director of marketplace, international, strategy and innovation and joined the company’s executive committee. In January 2023, he became CEO of Cdiscount and Cnova.
Thomas Métivier is also a member of the executive committee of the Casino group.
The former chairman of the board of directors of Cdiscount, Jean-Paul Onillon, has left his position, the e-retailer has confirmed. He is to join the Carrefour group as food merchandise director, according to LSA.
Marie Even, 49, holds a doctorate in e-commerce law and a certificate of aptitude for the legal profession. She began her career in law before joining Cdiscount in 2009 as legal director and joining the management committee.
In 2017, she was appointed general secretary and joined the executive committee, notably supervising the legal, HR, CSR, communications and public affairs departments.
In 2023, Cnova “accelerated its transition to a more profitable model”, with gross operating surplus (Ebitda) up 56% to 81 million euros.
