“Thomas, we will never forget you”: in Drôme, a white march in tribute to the killed teenager

Four days after the tragedy, where Thomas, a 16-year-old boy, died following a knife attack during a ball in Crépol, near Romans-sur-Isère, his relatives organized a white march to pay tribute to him . A gathering that they want to be apolitical, refusing any recovery.

“Thomas, we will never forget you, we love you.” These words as well as the portrait of this young 16-year-old rugby player will be displayed on the banner that these rugby teammates will proudly carry at the head of the white march procession. Thomas, this young high school student from Romans-sur-Isère was killed in the night from Saturday to Sunday during a ball in Crépol in the north of Drôme. They will walk for their friend, explains Tristan Tardy, co-president of the Romans-sur-Isère club.

“You have to be there to help the family”

“The important thing is to pay tribute to Thomas and that his friends and family can come together, as well as all his loved ones, around this moment to think of him. The main thing is to be there to Thomas, pay a beautiful tribute together in the stadium where he shared his passion”, he confides. Also present at the march were hundreds of students from his high school like Romane, a second grade student.

“He’s our age, he came to have fun and he’s not coming home. And it’s horrible because it should never have happened. We have to be there to help the family, the loved ones and he We must not forget Thomas,” explains the high school student. Family members will be at the front of the march. A gathering that they want to be apolitical, thus refusing any recovery. Nine young men are currently in police custody in this case. Some, including the author of the fatal stabbing, were arrested Tuesday in Toulouse, suspected of having wanted to flee to Spain.
