Thorsten Merten: "Tatort" star in the new ZDF Saturday thriller "Theresa Wolff"

In the Weimar "Tatort" scene he can be seen as head of the police station, now Thorsten Merten is playing a leading role in the ZDF Saturday crime thriller "Theresa Wolff".

In the Weimar "Tatort" (Das Erste) he is regularly responsible as the commissariat manager Kurt Stich for investigators Lessing (Christian Ulmen) and Dorn (Nora Tschirner). Now the actor and native Thuringian Thorsten Merten (born 1963) gets a leading role in a new ZDF Saturday crime series. The film "Theresa Wolff – Der Thüringenkrimi" is currently being shot.

And the said Theresa Wolff actress is no stranger: Nina Gummich (born 1991) became known with the "Alone under …" series (2007-2014, Sat.1). As the rebellious daughter Marla, she made life difficult for the no less impetuous family man Harald Westphal (Hannes Jaenicke). Most recently she was seen in "Unterleuten – Das Zerrissene Dorf" (2020, ZDF). From October 11th she will be part of the third season of the successful series "Babylon Berlin", in which Thorsten Merten was already a part.

That's what "Theresa Wolff – The Thuringian Crime" is all about

Theresa Wolff (Gummich) is a forensic doctor, death is her job, her passion is life. She has just left Berlin to take over the management of the Institute for Forensic Medicine in her old home in Jena. In her first case, Theresa meets her childhood sweetheart Steffen Köhler (Florian Bartholomäi), who is now a doctor at the Jena University Hospital.

Steffen's wife Vera (Antje Rau), who also worked there as a doctor, is found dead in her car from a reservoir. Theresa quickly realizes that Vera was the victim of a violent crime. To learn more about the circumstances of death, she researches the lives of the deceased. But with her arbitrariness Theresa clashes with the responsible investigator, Chief Detective Robert Brückner (Merten), because he is not very enthusiastic about the methods of the new forensic doctor.

Vera Köhler had been promoted to senior physician shortly before her death. Was there envy? Did her death have to do with exposing abuse in a patient or drug abuse in a colleague? Then Steffen, who has a relationship with assistant doctor Melanie Uhlmann (Kristin Suckow), is also targeted by the investigators. When Theresa wants to carry out further examinations on the dead person, Vera's body suddenly disappeared.

The shooting of "Theresa Wolff – Der Thüringenkrimi", so the working title, in Jena and the surrounding area will probably last until November 6th. A broadcast date has not yet been fixed.
