The French company specializing in connected objects, Netatmo, was the victim of a serious IT incident this Friday, February 2, according to our information, which deprived several thousand customers of their services. On dedicated forums and social networks, many people deplore an inability to connect to the equipment. The company has provided a first response on what is happening.

Update : the incident has been closed since the end of the morning. The latter concerned thermostats and weather stations.

Netatmo tells us that the outage started at 3 a.m., first very localized, then a peak was noted between 6 and 8 a.m. “ The on-call team started to implement corrective measures from the start, but they were not enough at first “. By 8 a.m., all teams were on deck, which helped launch more complex procedures. At 9:40 a.m., we noted a gradual resumption of the application across the entire installed base.

There are numerous reports of Netatmo product failures

Since last night, Netatmo applications and remote control have not been available, which annoys many customers who were hoping to control their devices from their smartphone, for example. “ Since last night, it has been impossible to connect. On Downdetector, reports are coming in by the hundreds. Netatmo communicated around 9:00 a.m. this Friday to confirm that it was the victim of a computer failure, the cause of which is unknown. But the French firm still provided some additional information.

Netatmo devices can be controlled manually

Netatmo indicates that it is working with its teams to resolve the incident, “ so that everything is back to normal as quickly as possible “. For now, only manual control and data logging continue to function normally. Which really annoys those who may be traveling or absent from home.

The company adds that the data recorded by thermostats, cameras or doorbells will be available in the various applications, once the incident is resolved. The functionalities will be restored automatically. “ No action on your part is necessary », adds Netatmo.
