Threads is finally available in France, return to this alternative to Twitter created by Meta

In July 2023, Meta launched a new social network named Threads. Unfortunately, Mark Zuckerberg’s group quickly blocked access to its competing service Twitter/X on the Old Continent, mainly because of regulations in terms of personal data protection. A few months later, Meta seems to have finished bringing Threads into compliance with European legislation. The platform has indeed made its big return to Europe this Thursday, December 14, 2023

What is Threads?

Just like Twitter/X, Threads is a microblogging social network allowing you to share short publications limited to 500 characters maximum. These can obviously include images, videos or even links. In addition to this, it is possible to like, comment and repost other users’ messages.

Since its launch in July 2023, the platform has received several improvements, including a web version; a general feed bringing together all the publications of the accounts followed; private messaging; keyword research; tags, an alternative to Twitter/X # hashtags; or a section dedicated to trendy tags.

Create a Threads account in France

To take advantage of Threads, you must first install the iOS application from the AppStore and Android from the Play Store or go directly to the web interface at this address.
After opening the application or accessing the social network site, you will have to choose how you want to use it. Two options are thus proposed:

• Continue with Instagram ;
• Use without profile.

The first simply allows you to use the social network to its full potential by having the possibility “to publish content and interact on Threads”, explains the social network; while the second will only offer the search and viewing of content published by other users.

By pressing Continue with Instagram, Threads will create a profile with the Instagram account connected to your device. Otherwise, the social network will ask you to provide your authentication information.

After this step, you will need:

• Push the button Authorize and create a profile ;
• Fill out your biography, importable from Instagram in one click;
• Touch the button Following ;
• Choose between a public or private profile;
• To push on Continue ;
• Finish by selecting the button Join Threads.

Now all that remains is to share content, follow the accounts of your friends, favorite media and influencers or even interact with the community on Threads.
