threat confirmed for 1 million new beneficiaries

Twenty consumer associations, housing assistance associations and employee unions denounce this Wednesday, April 10, the lack of sufficient response from the government to the 1 million new beneficiaries of the energy check who risk being forgotten this year. These organizations are calling for clear communication and a simple procedure for the future forgotten complaints desk.

Each energy: Will 1 million new beneficiaries take their turn? Two months after sounding the alarm for the first time, consumer associations denounce an insufficient response from the government to the threat facing this million households who should have received, in normal times, automatically their energy check in this month of April. But who will have to request it via a complaints counter which should appear by this summer, according to the Minister of the Economy.

And this time, the associations are even more numerous (1) co-sign the press release: unions such as the CFDT or Force Ouvrère (FO) are now joining the protest, in addition to the CLCV, the UFC-Que Choisir, the Unaf or Familles Rurales who were already in action two months ago.

There will be no losers?

I heard their concerns, replied the Minister of the Economy Bruno Le Maire on France 5 at the beginning of February. For a certain number of technical reasons, certain new beneficiary households (students, small pensioners, etc.) will not automatically receive it in April 2024, recognized Bruno Le Maire. He then promised: There will be no losers, therefore returning the parade to the protest window.

But this parade clearly does not convince the associations! Because the current simulator does not allow potential new beneficiaries to check their eligibility on the basis of their 2022 income. The official simulator is in fact fixed on 2021 income, the very ones which allow the automatic sending of the 5.6 million energy checks this month of April. But that does not solve the problem of new beneficiaries who will have to claim their check themselves in the coming months.

Energy check 2024: this oversight which will deprive 1 million French people of aid of 150 euros

Anyone who has a low income has the right to an energy check, simplifies Bruno Le Maire. Yet, the mechanism is not so obvious, especially if it involves knowing for yourself if you are part of this 1 million new beneficiaries. Since it is necessary to gauge the reference tax income (RFR) 2022, that which appears on the 2023 tax notice, and this RFR must not exceed 11,000 euros per consumption unit in the household.

Energy check 2024: should you claim this aid of up to 277 euros?
