Three dead in an avalanche near Lackenhof

(dpa) Three people died in an avalanche on the Ötscher mountain in Austria on Friday. This was announced by the police of the Austrian news agency APA.

According to the first information, the avalanche buried a total of four people shortly before noon in Lackenhof in Lower Austria. Three could only be recovered dead. In the afternoon, the search for other possible victims was carried out.

In January, a snowboarder died in an avalanche on the Ötscher. He belonged to a group of six people who drove off the runway into open terrain. The avalanche was triggered by the first person who drove off-piste into the slope.
