Just hours before the start of the soccer World Cup in Auckland, deadly gunshots erupted in the city. A man shot around the Central Business District, killing two people. In addition, several people were injured, as confirmed by the New Zealand police on Twitter.

The perpetrator entered a building armed and later entrenched himself in the elevator shaft. He fired more shots and was found lifeless by police a short time later. The New Zealand police now want to investigate the events and state that the crime was an isolated case. There is no risk to national security.
