Three games of the 53rd NL round – Riat secures Lausanne victory in Biel with 16 seconds to go – Sport

  • Lausanne beat Biel 3-2 away in the 53rd round of the National League thanks to a late Riat goal.
  • Despite the 2:7 in Zug, Davos remains in 6th place, but the direct quarter-final qualification is in danger.
  • Ajoie equalizes against Geneva-Servette in extremis – and then prevails 4: 3 in extra time.
  • As a result, Geneva had to be overtaken by Lausanne. The new seventh-placed Vaudois are now targeting HCD.

Biel – Lausanne 2:3

Lausanne has clinched another important victory in the battle for direct playoff qualification. 24 hours after the turbulent 8: 4 against Lugano, things were not without drama for the people of Vaud. In Biel, the spectators were already expecting an extra time before Lausanne finally struck: 16 seconds before the end, Damien Riat shot his colors to victory with a skillful deflection. The hit was watched again in the video – but it was flawless. The EHCB then had no time to react.

Biel took the lead in the first third thanks to Noah Delémont’s first goal of the season (after a great Lööv preliminary work). But Jiri Sekac and Andy Miele with a nice shorthander turned the game up to the 38th minute. For new signing Miele it was the 1st goal for Lausanne after 3 assists against Lugano. Viktor Lööv scored the 2:2 for Biel in the 50th minute.

Train – Davos 7:2

EV Zug set the course for victory against Davos early on. In the first third, Marco Müller (11th) and Fabrice Herzog (13th) put the home team two lengths ahead with their power play hits. HCD was unable to make up for this deficit. After Dario Allenspach made it 4-0 – after Matej Stransky and Sven Jung lost a goal – the game was decided before the middle of the game (29′). National striker Herzog even became the hat-trick goalscorer with two goals in the final third.

After the last two wins against Lugano and Biel, Davos had to leave the ice again as a loser. As a result, the Grisons were unable to consolidate 6th place, which still entitles them to direct playoff qualification. EVZ, on the other hand, moved even closer to leader Freiburg.

Ajoie – Geneva 4: 3 a.e.t

Geneva-Servette has suffered a major setback in the battle for the playoff spots. The Calvinstadt team had to be content with just one point when Ajoie was beaten off at the bottom. Everything pointed to a complete success after Joël Vermin gave the visitors a 3-2 lead in the 58th minute.

But Ajoie equalized 26 seconds before the end, after goalie Tim Wolf had already been replaced by a 6th field player, in 6 against 4 field players by Guillaume Asselin. And in overtime, the same player sent home fans into ecstasy with another power play goal after 118 seconds.
