Three injured – Serious accident because a Dutchman took a wrong turn

Despite the ban on turning back, a Dutchman (47) wanted to turn his car on the driveway to the Fernpass near Nassereith-Süd on Sunday. The turning maneuver had fatal consequences with three injured.

At around 1 p.m., the Dutchman steered his car on the federal road from Imst in the direction of Nassereith. At the Nassereith-Süd junction, he accidentally turned off in the direction of Obsteig. When he realized his mistake on the ascent to the Fernpass, he wanted to turn his car around despite the fact that there was a ban on turning back. At the same time, a 51-year-old Austrian wanted to overtake his car on the acceleration lane. He couldn’t stop in time and crashed into the Dutchman’s vehicle. Two women and a child were injured. The Austrian’s passenger (58) was seriously injured in the accident and flown to the Innsbruck clinic after first aid. A 10-year-old and a 47-year-old in the Dutchman’s car are also seriously injured. They were taken to Zams Hospital. Significant material damage occurred on both vehicles. The federal road was closed to all traffic for an hour during the first aid and the accident recording.
