(dpa) At least three women have died in a violent attack on a Hindu temple in India. Other believers were injured, Indian media reported on Monday, citing the police.
Those affected would have waited with many other people in front of the temple early Monday morning before sunrise. It was said to be a lucky day in the Hindu calendar.
When the gates of the temple in the state of Rajasthan were opened, a woman passed out and fell over. As a result, other people fell in the pilgrimage site, there was chaos and the women were fatally injured.

The police were later able to control the crowd, Indian media reports. Rajasthan Prime Minister Ashok Gehlot promised the families of the victims 500,000 rupees (about 6,166 euros) each in compensation and 20,000 rupees (about 247 euros) each for the injured.
