Pokémon Unite offers players the opportunity to embody their favorite Pokémon in fierce arena battles. Thanks to this Tier list of the different Pokémon available, here is enough to give you a good idea of the most effective Pokémon depending on the role you want to play.
Who says MOBA also says meta and balancing and Pokémon Unite is no exception, far from it. After the arrival of the game on mobile, things have changed a lot on the brand new MOBA. In order to see more clearly, we have concocted our own tier list of Pokémon to favor. For each of them, a guide to explain how to play it and which Abilities to choose is available or in preparation.

Third
Lucario
Lane: Top/Bot/Jungle (mid) – Role: Versatile (All-Rounder)
Everyone loves Lucario, and many will jump on the Pokémon as it is effective. This versatile fighter has it all, with fast-paced gameplay, high mobility, and heavy damage. If it is difficult to play, the reward is worth the effort!
Blancoton (Eldegoss)
Lane: Top/Bot – Role: Supporter
What would a MOBA be without a healing character? On Pokémon Unite, Blancoton occupies this role, and he does it well. Its protective abilities are very powerful and can turn the outcome of many fights in its favor.
Dragonite (Dragonite)
Lane: Jungle – Role: Versatile (All-Rounder)
Dragonite is an extremely powerful jungler, with a unique quirk. Despite late developments (level 5 and 8), it is formidable from the start of the game. Very effective in its versatility, this iconic Pokémon also has access to Ultra Laser, the most effective ability to secure or steal neutral objectives.
Venusaur (Venusaur)
Lane: Top/Bot – Role: Attacker
In the space of a few months, the optimal way to play Venusaur has changed completely. If one could think that basing its gameplay on Sunthrower was the key to success, it is finally a tanky build with Giga-Leech and Dance Flowers which completely dominates the meta.
Significant damage, colossal regeneration… Venusaur is absolutely unstoppable once launched.
Pyrobut (Cinderace)
Lane: Top/Bot – Role: Attacker
Pyrobut will undoubtedly win over many players thanks to its atypical gameplay. Indeed, the footballer rabbit must skilfully chain the Basic Attacks and the abilities to take advantage of his Talent. Once this mechanism is mastered, it becomes formidable!
A-tier
Sucreine (Tsareena)
Lane: Jungle / Top – Role: Versatile (All-Rounder)
Sucreine very quickly found a place of choice in the Pokémon Unite meta. Terrifying in the middle of the game, his Gliss’Herbe ability allows him to shamelessly dive opponents calmly posted on their point. She can dominate the mid game easily, even if she tends to run out of steam in the last minutes of the game.
Gardevoir
Lane: Top/Bot – Role: Attacker
Gardevoir has a colossal destructive potential, no one can say otherwise! However, this firepower comes at a price: a severe lack of mobility and chip-worthy survivability. That’s why it’s a difficult Pokémon to pick up, but one that will reward serious players.
Pikachu
Lane: Top/Bot – Role: Attacker
The electric mouse is the perfect attacker to start with. It has substantial damage, excellent range and controls to easily stay away from danger. If you are looking for an ultra-versatile attacker, choose the Electric mouse!
Flambusard (Talonflame)
Lane: Jungle (mid) – Role: Fast (Speedster)
Flambusard is the mobile Pokémon par excellence. He is formidable in the jungle thanks to his good damage and his ability to be anywhere in no time. Unfortunately, it is also extremely fragile and will struggle to find its place at the start of the game, hence the importance of going mainly to the jungle. Nevertheless, the firebird quickly becomes unstoppable if he manages to gain the upper hand during the first ganks.
Grodoudou (Wigglytuff)
Lane: Top/Bot – Role: Supporter
Many players hate facing Grodoudou, and it’s not for nothing. His crowd control arsenal and high early game damage make him terrifying in the early game. If Grodoudou’s offensive potential runs out of steam quickly, he still has one of the best Unites in the game for him!
Amphinobi (Greninja)
Lane: Top/Bot/Jungle (mid) – Role: Attacker
Amphinobi’s entire kit revolves around his powerful Basic Attacks, complemented by good mobility abilities. The frog is difficult to control but proves formidable in the right hands.
Mr. Mime (Mr. Mime)
Lane: Top/Bot – Role: Supporter
Mr. Mime, Pokémon Unite’s psychic support, has plenty of assets to join your team. Between walls to place to block enemies, crowd controls and even exchange of statistics, it has enough to drive your opponents crazy! The problem is that our mime is particularly difficult to play.
Nymphali (Sylveon)
Lane: Jungle (mid) – Role: Attacker
Overpowered on his exit, Nymphali fortunately suffered a lightning nerf in order to bring him into line. With a huge drop in its damage, the Fairy Pokémon is no longer able to annihilate an enemy in a fraction of a second, but it remains extremely dangerous in all phases of the game.
Tier B
Snorlax (Snorlax)
Lane: Top/Bot – Role: Defender
The gluttonous colossus is very difficult to eliminate due to its astronomical amount of HP and its excellent regeneration. He also has very powerful control abilities that undoubtedly make him a very effective Defender.
Zeraora
Lane: Jungle (mid) – Role: Fast (Speedster)
Zeraora is a very interesting jungler, whose kit encourages dragging fights. Indeed, the electric Pokémon gains Attack when it suffers damage and has a significant HP regeneration.
Tortank (Blastoise)
Lane: Top/Bot – Role: Defender
The essential water starter of the first generation is not to be taken lightly. If Tortank is formidable at the end of the game, he must nevertheless go through a long, somewhat weak phase before finally accessing his two key abilities (level 5 and 7) and his final evolution (level 9). Blastoise certainly has potential, including impressive damage for a defender.
Archduke (Decidueye)
Lane! Bot/Jungle – Role: Attacker
The hugely popular Archeduke fits the ADC archetype perfectly in MOBAs. Fragile and of little impact at the start of the game, he becomes the main source of damage for his team when he has accumulated levels. If he is well supported by his team, Archeduc offers a potential damage not to be underestimated.
Rongrigou (Greedent)
Terrifying on his exit, Rongrigou returned to the ranks after well-justified nerves. It nevertheless remains a powerful and interesting Pokémon, whose atypical gameplay revolves around the berries it generates, consumes and uses for its abilities.
Mammochon (Mamoswine)
Lane: Top/Bot – Role: Defender
Mammochon is capable of wreaking havoc, whether through its surprising damage output or its deadly crowd control. Unfortunately, most of his abilities are painfully slow, leaving a reactive opponent the chance to avert disaster.
Leuphoria (Blissey)
Lane: Top/Bot – Role: Supporter
Support par excellence, Blossom is a must for fans of the healer archetype! With its colossal heals, this Pokémon is unmatched when it comes to allowing an allied Attacker to wreak havoc. He can defend his allies better than anyone and can be devastating if he coordinates well with his team.
Tier C
Nigosier (Cramorant)
Lane: Top/Bot – Role: Attacker
This Feathered Attacker is quite unique in the Pokémon Unite roster. His passive allows him to defend himself thanks to the prey he catches: a very fun concept but which requires some learning in order to be optimized. Nevertheless, the bird Pokémon has enormous damage!
Absolute
Lane: Jungle (mid) – Role: Fast (Speedster)
The very archetype of the assassin in Pokémon Unite. Absol inflicts colossal damage with the essential mechanics of the blows in the back. However, he struggles to get priority targets in 5v5 fights. A weakness that costs him dearly.
Flagadoss (Slowbro)
Lane: Top/Bot – Role: Defender
Flagadoss is extremely annoying to play against, and can give his team a huge advantage via his arsenal of very powerful CCs. Particularly solid and more than correct at the start of the game, the simpleton is a character not to be underestimated.
Garchomp (Garchomp)
Lane: Top/Bot/Jungle (mid) – Role: Versatile (All-Rounder)
Garchomp is a fierce fighter with a lot going for it. The Sand Shark hits hard, is tough, has good controls…once he gets in contact, he becomes hard to stop. But for that, you have to go through a very soft early game.
Alolan Ninetale (Alolan Ninetale)
Lane: Top/Bot – Role: Attacker
Why choose between damage and control when you can have both? Alola Firenard is a very versatile Pokémon, which however lacks the mobility to really stand out from the game. Formerly overpowered, the fox now finds its place in the middle of the table.
Machamp / Machamp
Lane: Top/Bot/Jungle (mid) – Role: Versatile (All-Rounder)
Mackogneur is strong, but he has a little trouble proving it. The Pokémon deals massive damage and can also take a few hits before being knocked down, but it’s awfully predictable. Experienced adversaries will see the danger coming from afar.
Charizard
Lane: Top/Bot – Role: Versatile (All-Rounder)
Charizard is a very powerful Pokémon, with considerable firepower. For this, he must nevertheless go through a complicated start to the game.
Tier D
Crabaraque (Crustle)
Lane: Top/Bot/Jungle (mid) – Role: Defender
In the world of Defenders, Crabaraque acts as a UFO. If he is very resistant, he clearly does not offer his team the same panel of crowd controls as his colleagues. On the other hand, it has excellent mobility and (very) surprising damage.
Ectoplasm (Gengar)
Lane: Jungle (Mid) – Role: Fast (Speedster)
Once hugely popular, Gengar is struggling to make a name for itself in the current Pokémon Unite meta. His kit allows him to wreak havoc once he’s leveled up, but you still have to get to this point in the game without falling too far behind.
