Tiger King: Series with Nicolas Cage is running on Amazon

The "Tiger King" became world famous with Netflix, and the series with Nicolas Cage in the lead role will be shown on Amazon's Prime Video.

If you want to see Oscar winner Nicolas Cage (56) as Joseph Schreibvogel, better known as Joe Exotic (57), in the new "Tiger King" series, you need the streaming service from Amazon instead of Netflix. Because unlike the original documentary that made the eccentric US zoo owner world famous, the fictional version of his life story will be shown on Prime Video.

As "The Hollywood Reporter" also reports, further details about the drama series are now known and casting decisions such as Nicolas Cage in the leading role have now finally been officially confirmed. The new series is based on an article published in Texas Monthly in 2019: "Joe Exotic: A Dark Journey into the World of a Man Gone Wild" by author Leif Reigstad.

What is the Cage series about?

The series tells how Joe Schreibvogel, aka Joe Exotic, built a private zoo in Oklahoma and then fought to keep his big cat park – no matter what the cost. His opponent, animal rights activist Carole Baskin (59), can also be seen in the documentary. "Saturday Night Live" star Kate McKinnon (36) will play her in the series.

Netflix hit "Big Cats and Their Predators"

"Tiger King" Joe Exotic was best known for the Netflix documentary "Big Cats and Their Predators". In seven episodes earlier this year, the television show showed Joe's unusual life, from founding the zoo to his involvement in criminal business and his arrest. He was sentenced to 22 years in prison, among other things for having hired a man to murder Baskin.
