On August 25, the European Union made its new Digital Service Act effective, supposed to police the Internet in the direction desired by the Brussels authorities. The opportunity for an actor like TikTok, more and more sulphurous, to show his credentials. The company has just published a progress report on what it calls its “Clover project”, intended to preserve the security of European data.
These will thus be stored on the territory of the Old Continent, with a first center already completed in Dublin, towards which “ European user data migration […] has already started “. The construction of two other centers, one which will see the light of day in Ireland, and a final one in Norway, is also on the program.
An external third party as insurance
The group’s efforts do not stop there. To make the information that TikTok will transmit to the authorities more credible, a third party has been hired: the security company NCC Group. Present in many European countries, TIBER-EU accredited and approved by the National Cyber Security Center (NCSC) of Great Britain, it will be responsible for checking that the data of European users is well protected, and that only legitimate people can have access to it.
