Anxious to strengthen its moderation tools, the platform TikTok is testing a new feature criticized on social networks.

TikTok has started rolling out a button dislike intended for comment only. The objective, to encourage benevolence and safety.

A dislike button for comments

TikTok will have the right to its own button downvotes. The platform has announced that it is testing a feature similar to “I don’t like” for comments. It is part of his efforts to ” encourage kindness and safety “. As is already the case with videos, users will be able to flag posts they deem irrelevant or inappropriate. According to the social network, the objective would be to help TikTok followers to “ stay in control of their interactions “, while ensuring that this section ” is always relevant and remains a place of authentic engagement “.

The functionality will be private: only the person having disliked a comment will see it. It will therefore be impossible to know how many times a message has been disapproved and the content creators will not be informed. The platform specifies that this button is not so much intended to flag comments but rather to indicate those which could be considered spam or which would not make sense in the context of the video under which they are posted. The button dislike is currently only available to certain users. The social network will decide later whether to deploy it on a large scale or not.
