The twins Lena and Lisa are among the biggest internet stars in Germany. In the future, they no longer want to work together as a duo.

In 2015, at the tender age of 13, the Stuttgart twins Lisa and Lena Mantler (21) started their own channel on the social media portal TikTok, which at the time was still known as musical.ly. Within a very short time, they managed to gather a steadily growing fan base with cute lipsync videos to English-language pop hits. Eight years later, they are among the country’s biggest internet stars – with around 14 million followers on TikTok and 20 million on Instagram. Now the two shocked their fans with the news that they no longer want to be on the road as a duo in the future.

The two sisters published a video on Instagram to explain their heavy-hearted decision to their fans and also to review their incredible careers.

“We have our boy band breakup”

There Lena explained: “There are boy band breakups, and we have our boy band breakup too. We’ve been doing this together for so long and we sometimes forget that we’re only 21. Through all the experiences, our interests have developed so differently. We had a time when we looked alike. We may be twins, but we have different talents.”

However, in the comment on their video, the two made it clear that despite the official split, they still get along brilliantly. It says: “We love each other and realized some time ago that it was time to focus on ourselves … BUT we will always be Lisa and Lena, just a little more private now.”

Lena takes over the common Instagram channel

However, the shocked fans will not have to do without their stars in the future either. From now on, Lena will continue to run the joint Insta account alone, while Lisa wants to look for new challenges.
