TikTok is currently testing a new artificial intelligence such as ChatGPT which will install into its app and help users discover and search for content. The experience is similar to that of Snap, whose ChatGPT-powered “My AI” bot launched last month.

The robot is called “Tako” and was launched in a few users in the Philippines for testing purposes. Despite our attempts to access the artificial intelligence, we were unable to find an account to try it out. The number of users chosen by TikTok must therefore be quite limited.

What will Tako, TIkTok’s artificial intelligence, be used for?

Tako is supposed to speak to TikTok users while helping them discover more content. Videos and screenshots captured by Watchful.ai show Tako in TikTok’s main video interface, above the user’s profile picture on the right side of the screen, represented by an icon in the shape of a ghost.

Once clicked, a warning appears stating that the feature is experimental and “should not be used” for medical, legal, or financial advice. Watchful analysts who managed to spot the chatbot said the feature can currently recommend videos or content creators based on what the user is watching.

Like ChatGPT, the user can formulate queries in natural language or discover new content by asking for recommendations. For example, while watching a video about the coronation of King Charles, Tako might suggest users to ask ” What is the significance of the coronation of King Charles III? “. It is also possible to simply ask Tako to suggest videos on a particular topicr, for example funny videos about pets.

Being at the forefront of innovation is key to building the TikTok experience, and we’re always exploring new technologies that add value to our community. “TikTok told TechCrunch. ” In select markets, we’re testing new ways to search and discover on TikTok, and we look forward to learning from our community as we continue to create a safe place that entertains, inspires creativity, and boosts culture. “. Anyway, we imagine that this new AI will not help TikTok’s business in the United States, since the application has already been banned in one state.
