Till Lindemann and Zaz did something together for the song “Le jardin des larmes” – also in front of the camera.

An extremely unusual collaboration: the French singer Zaz (41) and the German Rammstein frontman Till Lindemann (58) recorded a song together. “Le jardin des larmes” (“The Garden of Tears”) appeared on the singer’s recently released album “Isa” – and since today, Friday there is also a video for the duet.

While the music still seemed unusually gentle for Lindemann, the video reflects his somber art more: The two musicians play a couple who at first seem overly happy, but ultimately kill each other and burn together in a blazing dance.

Lindemann is a big Zaz fan

A make-up artist in Germany had revealed to the singer that Lindemann likes her music. When Rammstein played in Paris, he invited her and her pianist into his cloakroom – where he danced to their music. “It was surreal,” said Zaz opposite the newspaper “Le Parisien”. In one Behind-the-scenes video on YouTube fans can also look into the recording process. There Zaz raves about Lindemann’s voice: “It has a certain intensity, but also something very gentle.”

If the recording of the song still looks pretty relaxed – you can see the two musicians drinking coffee and fooling around – shooting the video with Lindemann in Uzbekistan seems to have been more exhausting. “His whole crew is really busy and we haven’t slept, I haven’t slept for three or four days, and it was very intense and very rich and very … and it was an incredible experience,” Zaz said in a press release.
