Disney has contacted Tom Hanks (67) and Tim Allen (70) to lend their voices to the two “Toy Story” main characters Woody and Buzz Lightyear. Allen has now revealed this to host Jimmy Fallon (49) on the “Tonight Show”. Disney CEO Bob Iger (72) announced in February that a new “Toy Story” film was in development, but he did not give any details at the time.

With Hanks and Allen as voice actors, fans are now hoping for a continuation of the core story. Last year, Disney released a spin-off of the popular film series with the film “Lightyear”, which is all about the astronaut. Already on February 9th Allen hinted on his Twitter channel, to be able to speak to Buzz Lightyear for the fifth time. “See you soon, Woody,” he addressed the main character, cowboy sheriff Woody, in his tweet. “You are a sad, strange little man and you have my pity,” he added. He also wrote about the picture of his figure: “Let’s go to number 5! To infinity and much further!” The actor has held the speaking role since 1995 – with one exception last year.

Can a fifth part still keep up?

The fourth part was released in cinemas in 2019 and set a record for the largest animated film release at the time with a worldwide box office of $244.5 million. as Variety reports. “Toy Story 3” even won an Oscar for best animated film in 2010. Can a fifth part keep up with that? “You wonder if four were too many. Will five be too many?” Tim Allen openly admits to Jimmy Fallon on his show, who immediately answers him with “No.” The audience also cheers and makes it clear to the actor that a fifth part could be very popular. Allen says that one of the filmmakers from the original series is behind the script. “This could be a very, very interesting way to reunite,” he said.
