Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, spoke about a launch of the Vision Pro in China. We learn that the headset will arrive on this (huge) market later this year, potentially in parallel with marketing in Europe.

When will the Apple Vision Pro be released outside the United States? Well, imagine that we now know a little more about this. Asked about his mixed reality headset by CCTV Finance, during the China Development Forum from Beijing, Tim Cook indicated that the device would arrive on the Chinese market later this year, without giving further details at this stage.

The information is interesting, because it is – to our knowledge – the first time that Tim Cook has spoken clearly about a launch of the Vision Pro in a new market. With any luck, this marketing of the headset in China could occur in parallel with its arrival in Europe and a handful of other territories.

The Apple Vision Pro expected in China in 2024… but not only that?

This larger-scale launch has in any case been anticipated since the addition, in the code of the last visionOS update, of several languages other than English intended for the Vision Pro virtual keyboard. Among them, French (France and Canada), but also German, Korean and even Japanese. This same update also suggests marketing in the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Singapore, and even Hong Kong and Taiwan. And for good reason, the English keyboard variants corresponding to these different regions have also been added to visionOS.

For Apple, quickly marketing the Vision Pro in China would be an opportunity to strike a major blow in a market in which it has appeared to be in difficulty for several months. The firm is in fact under pressure from the giant Huawei, which has returned in force to its domestic market. A perilous situation that Apple is trying to deal with… even if it means adopting an unusual strategy. To boost its sales before the Lunar New Year, the brand has, for example, agreed to discounts on its latest iPhone 15 and other products. An extremely rare maneuver for Apple which seems to indicate a certain distress.

Launching the Vision Pro in China in the coming months would therefore allow it to easily occupy the media space there… in the hope of relaunching sales of the iPhone 15 Pro (capable of capturing spatial videos compatible with the headset). ) and potentially MacBook (with which the Vision Pro makes a good team, notably through the Mac Virtual Display function).
