Time of longing: After 37 years of soap, Kristian Alfonso breaks up

Actress Kristian Alfonso remained loyal to the US soap opera "Time of Longing" for 37 years. Now she has announced her farewell.

One of the oldest television series in the world loses one of its most loyal stars. Actress Kristian Alfonso (56), who has been the figure of Hope Williams Brady in the US soap "Time of Longing" for a whopping 37 years, is retiring from the soap opera. "I feel blessed and honored to have been invited to people's homes for over three decades," Alfonso is quoted by the US industry newspaper "Deadline". "However, it is now time for me to write a new chapter".

"I've already made my last episode"

Due to the corona pandemic, filming of new episodes is currently suspended. Production should only start again in September – then without Alfonso: "I shot my last episode a few months ago." Since the episodes are produced with some lead time, as is customary in the industry, the last appearance of Hope Williams Brady is to be broadcast at the beginning of October this year.

Alfonso joined the cast of Soap in 1983, which has long achieved cult status in the USA. "Time of Longing" has been on the air since 1965, and to date there have been almost 14,000 episodes from 56 seasons. RTL only started broadcasting in Germany in 1993, with the episodes starting in 1987. In this country, the soap opera is best known for another cult series: the sitcom "Friends". In it "actor" Joey Tribbiani (Matt LeBlanc, 52) snatched up the wonderfully stupid role of Dr. Drake Ramoray in "Longing Time".
