In a press release published on April 22, 2024, the company announced the upcoming arrival of a feature nicknamed “Share my appointment”. Quite explicit, it allows you to inform your loved ones of an upcoming appointment by including the profile of the user met, the place and time of the appointment and even a small personal note added. by the person editing the file. Links can be shared freely for 30 days (even to people who don’t use Tinder) and are updated in real time if information changes.
The idea behind this feature is to make it easier to share information about upcoming dates, a practice that takes place outside of the app anyway, Tinder notes. 51% of single people under 30 already give this kind of information to their loved ones, explains the company. You might as well do it via a practical and easily updated interface.
An arrival in France in the coming months
“At Tinder, we continue to deliver new features that aim to create a fun, safe, and respectful experience for everyone“, explained a spokesperson. The functionality is in fact inspired by another tool deployed on Match.com (belonging to the same group) allowing you to send an alert (with geolocation) if a date goes badly. By informing loved ones of the meeting place in advance, it is easier for women (more often exposed to threats) to feel safe during a date.
The feature should arrive in the coming months on Tinder, in France, but also in Spain, Italy, Germany, Japan and a whole bunch of other countries. Not sure if this is enough to rekindle interest in dating apps, but anything that can offer an extra layer of security in a vulnerable moment like a date is always good to have.
