With the drop in temperatures, it is common to be forced to defrost your car in the morning. But there are tricks to avoid it or get rid of it.
Negative temperatures could soon return to a large part of France, especially at night. Many motorists are therefore likely to wake up with this unpleasant surprise: the frosted windshield. Early in the morning, it is never pleasant to have to scrape it. Moreover, when you are in a hurry, you tend to rush this chore, which is nevertheless necessary for obvious security reasons. However, there are several tricks to get rid of it.
The simplest thing is to prevent frost from forming. If you have the opportunity to do so, park facing east. So the first rays should have done melt at least the ice on your windshield, the most complicated to defrost, before your departure. This trick, however, works better around February than at the beginning of winter, when the days get longer and the sun rises earlier. In addition, it will be necessary to be sure not to be parked in the shade.

Avoid hot water
If you can’t choose the orientation of your vehicle, there are techniques to prevent the formation of ice. Place an old sheet or large piece of cardboard on your windshield, outside, and wedge it in with the windshield wipers. This cover will prevent frost from appearing. It is also possible to spray the windows with a mixture of water and white vinegar. The alcohol it contains only freezes at extreme temperatures. Dissolution in five parts water should provide frost protection down to at least -10°C.
Finally, if you haven’t thought about anticipating frost, especially do not pour boiling or even lukewarm water directly on the windows. Instead, pour hot water into an airtight bag before applying it to the frost. This solution will avoid too violent a temperature difference, and therefore the cracking of the windshield. You can also use a sponge, taking care not to soak it too much.
