The space project was initiated by Tom Cruise and US director Doug Liman (55, "Mr. and Mrs. Smith"), who already shot the film "Barry Seal: Only in America" ​​with Cruise. Tesla founder Elon Musk (49) and the US space agency NASA are also partners in the groundbreaking film project. The latter provides the pilot: space shuttle veteran Michael Lopez-Alegria (62). NASA chief Jim Bridenstine wrote on Twitter: "We need the media to inspire a new generation of engineers and scientists."

Cruise is the first actor in space
