Tomorrow in the spotlight: a female reboot of the series in preparation


More than twenty years after the end of the cult series worn by Kyle Chandler, “Tomorrow on the front page” could soon be entitled to its reboot. The American chain CBS ordered the pilot of a new version which would follow an ambitious journalist.

Twenty-two years after its last episode, Demain à la une could very soon become relevant again in the form of a reboot. According to Deadlinethe American channel CBS, which broadcast the original series at the time, has just ordered a pilot for this new version which could thus land on the air at the start of the next school year.

Demain à la une (Early Edition en VO), which had four seasons from 1996 to 2000, and made the heyday of M6 in France, told the story of Gary Hobson (Kyle Chandler) who was woken up every morning by a mysterious ginger cat waiting for him with a copy of the Chicago Sun-Times… the next day.

With his accomplices Marissa (Shanésia Davis-Williams) and Chuck (Fisher Stevens), Gary tried to change the course of events supposed to occur during the day in order to avoid disasters and save lives.

Supervised by screenwriter Melissa Glenn (Hawaii 5-0, Zoo) and producers DeVon Franklin and Bob Brush, who already officiated on the original series, this reboot of Tomorrow in the spotlight will have the particularity of being worn by a woman.

Exit therefore Gary, and Kyle Chandler, and place, according to the official synopsis revealed by Deadline, an ambitious and uncompromising journalist who also begins to receive the next day’s newspaper and finds herself with the difficult task of having to change the news at instead of treating it.

No information has yet filtered about the actress who will play this new heroine, or the possibility of seeing certain actors from the original version make appearances for an episode or more.

It will be necessary to wait for the month of May, and the traditional Upfronts, to know for sure if CBS will order the project in series. The reboot of Tomorrow in the spotlight is among the many revamps of cult brands currently in the works, including Code Quantum and Zorro.
