Do you like bands of children who live hectic adventures? Emile and the Detectives is made for you! In this story, little Emile visits his aunt. During the bus trip, he is hypnotized by a scoundrel who steals the 400 marcs he was supposed to hand over. Arriving there, the boy meets Gustav and his band of budding detectives who will do everything to locate the thief. In doing so, they will discover that a much bigger blow is organized…

Directed by Peter Tewksbury, Emile and the Detectives is an adventure that is enjoyable for parents but will especially appeal to children! The feature is calibrated for them, features mostly ineffective adults and capable, resourceful kids, not forgetting to give them a few flaws.
It should be noted for parents who may be fans of the book from which the film is adapted that many parts of the story are modified, and that the relationship between Emile and his mother, very touching, is completely ignored here.

- The “Club des 5” atmosphere of the group of children, which is sometimes divided, sometimes united, but always human.
- The three bandits, who are caricatural at will, and a fair balance between disturbing and ridiculous.
- The character of Pony, played by Cindy Cassell, who stands out for her way of responding to boys and shutting them up!
What may worry them:

- The credits music, which sells a film that’s a bit dark when it really isn’t.
- The hypnotist Grundeis, who is both a magician and whose very particular face can destabilize a little. Luckily it’s not that dangerous!
- As in The Adventures of Bernard and Bianca, we find the idea of thieves exploiting the small size of a child to achieve their ends, but Emil has resources and is doing very well!
