Tonight on TV: have you ever seen James Bond as a genius burglar?

Every day, AlloCiné recommends a film to (re)watch on TV. Tonight: Pierce Brosnan orders a heist.

Originally from Finland, Renny Harlin emigrated to the United States in the mid-1980s. There he met Markus Selin, with whom he developed the script for his first feature film as a director, Born American, with Mike Norris (the son of Chuck Norris) headlining. His success opened the doors to Hollywood for him.

He signed Freddy’s Nightmare, the fourth part of the eponymous franchise, in 1988, then won recognition by directing 58 Minutes to Live, the second part of the saga that propelled Bruce Willis to stardom, in 1990.

Considered one of the new action film specialists, Renny Harlin followed with Cliffhanger: Hunting the Top, which notably allowed Sylvester Stallone to return to box office success, then with Blue Scare.

After a few commercial failures, Renny Harlin devoted the 2000s to directing less expensive thrillers such as Profession profiler or Cleaner. In 2019, during the Berlinale film market, he announced his new project: a heist film directed by Pierce Brosnan, with whom he has dreamed of collaborating for a long time.

In Gold Heist, the former James Bond interpreter plays Richard Pace, a compulsive thief who flies to the Middle East with the intention of stealing gold.

With the help of a group of robbers, consisting of the experienced Ringo (Nick Cannon), the pyrotechnic genius Wick (Mike Angelo), the martial arts contortionist Violet (Jamie Chung) and the crook The Prince (Rami Jaber), he is planning a high-level burglary in an Abu Dhabi prison. But his involvement will exceed his expectations…
