Tonight on TV: no, Les Inconnus didn’t just do Les Trois Frères

Every day, AlloCiné recommends a film to (re)watch on TV. Tonight: The Unknowns in the skin of Gaspard, Balthazar and Melchior.

In 1995, the film The Three Brothers, carried by Les Inconnus, the most fashionable comic trio of the time, accumulated 6.8 million admissions and won the César for Best First Film. For those who remember the final scene, a cook calls Pascal Légitimus “Balthazar” while the protagonists are in a school canteen. From there was born the idea of a project around the Three Kings.

As soon as the legal dispute between them and their manager Paul Lederman is over, Les Inconnus embark on this new adventure. Released in 2001, Les Rois Mages recounts the adventures of Balthazar, Melchior and Gaspard, who, wanting to join the stable of Jesus, fall into a temporal rift and find themselves in Paris in 2001. This completely crazy comedy seduces 2.3 million of French thanks to the energy and verve of the three troublemakers. We particularly remember the McDo scene, hilarious!

After which, Les Inconnus led their careers on their own until 2014, when they reunited for the sequel to their first film, Les trois frères, le retour, which attracted more than 2 million spectators in theaters. If Didier Bourdon recently teased a third installment on the big screen, Les Inconnus also has another cinematographic project in the works under the direction of Riad Sattouf.
