Tonight on TV: non-stop action for a Liam Neeson more relentless than ever

Every day, AlloCiné recommends a film to (re)watch on TV. Tonight: Liam Neeson determined to avenge the death of his son.

For several years, Liam Neeson has made a specialty of playing in very muscular action films, from the Taken saga to Non-Stop, including The Passenger and Night Run. A list in which there is also Cold Blood, an ultra-effective thriller not devoid of dark and second-rate humor which is broadcast this evening on France 3.

Released in theaters in 2019, Cold Blood tells the story of Nels Coxman (Liam Neeson), snowplow driver at a luxury ski resort in Colorado. When his son is murdered on the orders of Viking, a drug lord, he will, armed with implacable rage and heavy artillery, set out to dismantle the cartel. His quest for justice will quickly turn into merciless vengeance.

Remake of the Norwegian thriller Cold Blood is directed by the same director, Hans Petter Moland. The latter explains about the plot of the film:

“The initial idea came to me when I asked myself, ‘If my son died like this, would I accept what happened?’ Or would I try to do something about it? And, if so, wouldn’t that lead to an endless spiral of violence?”

“It’s a bit of a heavy theme, perfect for a black comedy”continues the Scandinavian filmmaker. “There was a desire not to get pigeonholed into one genre, but to allow different genres to coexist harmoniously, to be truly horrific and tragic, but also to be laughable – like life.”

For the purposes of Cold Blood, Liam Neeson had to drive three different snow plows. “Damn, they’re amazing machines.”declares the actor. “When you’re at the controls, you feel all this power, all this metallic power at your fingertips. These things can swallow snow and throw it 50 meters! Great machines.

And I had the privilege of driving them, for short periods of time. It gave me a whole new respect for these guys responsible for clearing the roads. These sites can be pretty, but they also have a real harshness to them.”
