Tonight on TV: once upon a time Omar Sy at the director of The Artist

Every day, AlloCiné recommends a film to (re)watch on TV. Tonight: Omar Sy in a modern tale by Michel Hazanavicius.

In 2017, producers Philippe Rousselet and Jonathan Blumental approached director Michel Hazanavicius to submit the screenplay for The Forgotten Prince, written by Bruno Merle.

The story is that of Djibri, a single father who raises his daughter Sofia alone. Every night, he invents a story for her to put her to sleep. Her extraordinary stories come to life in an imaginary world where the heroine is still Princess Sofia, and her father, the Brave Prince. But three years later, when Sofia returns to college, Djibri will have to accept that his daughter is growing up and moving away from him. In their imaginary world, the Prince will then have to face the most incredible of all his adventures to keep a place in history.

Sharing the producers’ desire to make a great family film mixing the intimate and the epic, Michel Hazanavicius read the script. Touched by the story, in which he finds themes that are dear to him (behind the scenes of the entertainment industry, sparkling romance, etc.), as well as by its scope and ambition, the filmmaker accepts the project.

He thus signs a pretty tale about adolescence and father-daughter relationships, carried by Omar Sy, Bérénice Béjo and François Damiens, but also by the very young Keyla Fala and Sarah Gaye.

In addition, the feature film benefits from special effects worthy of Hollywood blockbusters and an original soundtrack composed by Howard Shore, a big name in cinema who has worked on many cult films (La Mouche, Madame Doubtfire, Seven, Le Seigneur of the Rings, The Wolf of Wall Street…).

The Forgotten Prince by Michel Hazanavicius with Omar Sy, Bérénice Bejo, François Damiens…
